I am interested in sustainability issues, Vermont is teeming with progressive ideas about sustainable living, and I feel it is imperative that those voices be recorded.  Observing that many people still do not understand that our earth’s resources are limited and that our over-consumption has seriously negative consequences, I decided that I wanted to be more actively involved in working for positive change in the world, especially by promoting ideas of sustainable living.

In addition to issues of sustainability I also want to document the lives of some of the many talented individuals that comprise Vermont’s thriving arts and crafts community.  Having been an artist for twenty years, and having served on the boards of several arts organizations, l feel that I have a unique insight into this community and the process of art and craft.

As a studio artist I was primarily moved by beauty;  as a filmmaker I am no differently motivated.  I eagerly look forward to the future and am thrilled to be back making films.

“When I am working with the bees, when I am out on a really hot day, dressed in heavy gloves, work boots, a huge white suit, sweating with the bees under the sun, there is a feeling that comes out that I can not get at any other place, this feeling of really being in tune in nature, with the bees. Just when you are opening up a hive, there are millions and millions of little animals coming out…. They are landing on you, covering your face, your hands……There is a certain comfort level with them…. It has taken me awhile to get to that level.”
